What is the difference between あなた and あんた?
I've often heard both of these used when watching Japanese television and seen it when browsing through tweets. I know that they both mean "you" but is there a difference between their usages? Thanks for the help!

"あんた" does not have elegance to use. At least my experiences, I never ever use it except I rarely use it to my really close friends in joke.

In Japanese, there are various ways of saying "you", "I" and other things. We generally use あなた, however, we use her/his name much more than あなた after we know the name of each person. あんた is very impolite way of "you" but sometimes it's OK if it's used between very close people even though it sounds impolite and I wouldn't use it. I'd really like to recommend you NOT to use it.
