... see/witness an increase
Hello, I got a bit confused when using see/ witness in the sense of experience
I'd like to ask whether it is okay to say:
"The amount of energy produced by petro increased to 30% in 2022. Likewise, the figure for nuclear power saw a increase to 70% in the same year" ?
Another one, is it correct to say:
"In 2005, nuclear power generated 5% more energy than 1995, with the figure rising to 10.1%. " ?
Thanks!

Both of your sentences are completely correct.
Although you can use either see/witness, witness is more formal and generally for bigger or unusual events. For example, you could say both of these sentences and they would mean the same thing: "I witnessed a crime yesterday" or "I saw a crime yesterday". However it would sound very odd to say "I witnessed a film" because watching a film is quite common. I this case it would definitely be better to say "I saw a film" or "I watched a film" would work too :)
I hope this helps!

When you're witnessing something, you're actually watching it happen, but when you SEE something, you can either watch it happen, or notice it afterwards. I would say 'this year saw an increase' but 'I witnessed the increase this year." Does that make sense?
Those two example sentences are correct!
