What does 'Doctor Strange' mean? I've got a very basic question. There's a film called 'Doctor Strange'. Does it mean 'A strange doctor'? My question is that why is the word 'Strange' placed after the word 'Doctor' in the title? Maybe the word 'Strange' is considered a noun/name in this case, just like 'Doctor Watson' for example. Can someone please clarify that for me? Thank you very much.

I googled and found out that Dr. Strange is called Dr Strange because that is the last name of the Doctor. The fictional character is called Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange.

Yes, Strange is the family name of this character. But, of course, this is not by accident. The character was named this way to let you know something about his likely behaviour and characteristics.
