Which Phrase Is Better To Say “My Name Is…” In Italian? Or Does It Matter?
In Italian, is it better to say “Il mio nome è…” or “Mi chiamo…” when stating your name when you meet someone? Does it matter which phrase you use, based on the age of the person you are speaking with, if they are older or younger than you are? Can you use both phrases interchangeably?

"Mi chiamo" is the most used, independently of the person you are speaking with.

"Il mio nome è" has the same meaning but it's much less used and, in my opinion, it sounds a bit artificial, especially if you are in an informal situation.
