Who's Bob?
Hello everyone!
I asked tech support if they could repair one broken device today, and this led to the following dialogue:
Me: Is there no hope then?
Tech assist: Sorry Ksenia but Bob's dead..
Well, I guess that means "no", but who on earth is Bob?? This name has nothing to do with the device itself, I'm pretty sure about it. Could anybody shed some light on the situation, please? Google is not helping this time.
Thanks in advance.

Bob? He's your uncle.
Was the speaker British?
The phrase "Bob's your uncle" is a BrE phrase which roughly means "you're all set" or "it's as simple as that" or "everything will be fine/have a positive outcome" and often given at the end of a set of instructions to denote the successful end of a process.
(Directions to the bank)
Go straight to the next corner, turn left, walk to the end of the street , turn right and (Bob's your uncle.) ( you will find the bank there)

Hi, Bob is a name that is popularly used when choosing a name for something random. Other names like this are Fred, Tom, and and Jim. I think the tech support people were just naming your device for fun and personifying the device.
