'We have more time to finish this work.' or 'We have much time to finish this work.' Which one is correct? If both of them are correct; are there any different in their meaning? Sorry for this basic question. I really don't know. Please clarify and/or correct me. Thank you in advance, --Socko

You really wouldn't say "we have much time". A more proper sentence would be, "We have a lot of time to finish..." or "We have a great deal of time to finish..." Or, if you have been given extra time, you would simply say "We have more time to finish...".

"more" is a comparative word, so it needs to compare to something. More than [something]… More time than we need. More time than we were given. More time than there is left. “much” is a stand-alone word; it does not compare to something else. If there is much of something this means there is a lot. '”We have more time to finish this work.” This can be correct if you are saying this to your team, to explain that we have more time than we thought we had, or more time than we had before. (If you have to finish by Friday, and are told you have more time, you know that it is now longer than Friday until the deadline.) “We have much time to finish this work.” This is a generic statement saying that there is plenty of time.

Hello Socko, " more time " means additional time . In this example it means more time than the fixed or settled date. If this work was supposed to be accomplished in 2 days for example, being given a day or more extra one could say " we have more time now to finish this work". "much time " means more than enough : In this example the fixed days to accomplish the work are enough and exceeding even the time we need to finish the work.

Both are correct but have different meanings. "We have more time to finish this work" indicates that, although there is a specific deadline to complete the work, it is still in the future. "We have much time to finish this work" simply means "We have a lot of time to finish this work." In the US, we would almost always say it the second way (with "a lot of"), but the first way ('much") is also correct.

we have more time to finish the work- is the right answer as it indicates time quantity(adjective of time) as the statement is meant to indicate time and the other statement indicates quality (adjective of number)
