일반적이다 = common, in general
평범하다 = no extraordinary thing.
example
일반적으로 점심식사는 12시에 먹는다
그 학생은 특이한 점 없는 평범한 학생이었다.
평범한 학생들이 모여 일반적인 공부 방법에 대해 이야기를 하고있다.
