How do we call someone who gets easily offended? I'd like to know how to call someone who gets easily offended, for example, when you say something about this person that no one would get offended, but this person get offended. In Portuguse we call Pessoa Sensivel, in English it would be Sensible Person, but I have the feeling it doesn't have the right meaning to use Sensible Person to describe someone who gets easily offended. Thank you.

The first thing that came to my mind was "thin-skinned," although I agree that "touchy" is just as good.

The Portuguese word 'sensivel' and the English word 'sensible' are what we call 'false cognates'. The two words come from the same Latin root, sound similar, and look like they ought to have the same meaning. However, they actually have different meanings. sensivel (Portuguese) = sensitive (English) He's a sensitive person who gets easily offended. sensible ( English) = sensato/prudente/razoável He's a sensible person who always makes good decisions. I agree with Dana that 'touchy' is the best way to describe a 'pessoa sensivel', if you mean this in a slightly negative way.

Someone who is sensitive or touchy or delicate. Touchy is slightly more negative than the other two words.
