Not really. It is more difficult than English because of the endings and gender distinction but it has a lot in common with English.

French grammar to me is not too difficult, but the pronunciation can be a bit tricky. It's hard to distinguish between sounds in a normal conversation.

I would not say it is difficult. What makes it "difficult" is that it is not written as it is pronounced. What makes it easy than a lot of other languages is that there are only two genders (masculine and feminine) and there are no cases as there are in German, Russian, Greek (that is, the nouns, adjectives etc don't change endings according to their grammar function -- that is, whether they are the subject or object of the sentence, etc). French has a lot of words that English and Spanish speakers will recognize (nation, democratie, fraternite, RSVP!) Also, unlike Spanish, French has simplified its subjunctive so really only present and past subjunctive are used in spoken French these days :-)
Another plus is that the language is SOOOOOOOOOO beautiful (nothing having to do with ease of learning, I know)

but as you can see, if you want to learn French and you are motivate you will.
