And not that you asked, either, but 'get (and drink) a beer' would be 'Grab a pint' in the UK.
'Grab a brew' would be a cup of tea in Britain, as Alex has explained.
Some scope for misunderstanding there, I fear. Offer a 'brew' to an American, he'd expect a cold beer and would be very surprised (and disappointed) to be presented with a cup of hot milky tea!
