有的人爱吃萝卜,有的人爱吃白菜.这只是爱好不同而已. 比如有的人学英语,认为英语的应用最广泛. 有的人学汉语,认为汉语在将来会有用处. 这都只是各人的爱好,意见而已. 不能说英语比汉语有用, 反过来也是. 德语中也有类似的说法,Über Geschmack lässt sich nicht streiten. 我不知道英语中怎么说..所以举了个德语的例子.

If I understand your question correctly, in English we say : "To each his own" or more cryptically : "you say tomato I say tomato" (where the 'a' in the first word [tomato] sounds like the 'a' in the word HAY; and the 'a' in the second word [tomato] sounds like the 'a' in the word MAMA or BABA). The word tomato, in both cases, refers to the same fruit regardless of how it is pronounced. Hope this helps.

萝卜白菜 there are three different meanings: 萝卜is Radish, 白菜 is Chinese cabbage, 萝卜白菜 is Turnip cabbage. 各有所爱 means everyone has their own preference. 萝卜白菜 is an introduction that leads to the 各有所爱. In conversation, 萝卜白菜 can be omitted or replaced by some other things.
