Well first of a POLICE report should be filed by the POLICE. Hence POLICE report. But this report should have all the elements of the alleged offense. Dates, times, Victim/s, Suspect/s, as well as any and all items involved. If it was theft, then all the item/s that were stolen. B & E then any and all items that may have been taken. This does include any damage to any of the property. Any injuries, Any identifying descriptions of any of the suspects. If money then how much is missing. If this was an assault and battery then any injuries possible injuries received. If there were or are any vehicles invovled then a description of any vehicle. Serial numbers on any stuff taken. Or like credit cards numbers. Now are there any finger prints. Yes finger prints should be taken IF there are any. Now, the police may not take or even look for prints if they determine that this si not serious enough. But in more serious crimes they will. HENCE once again POLICE REPORT. There are some things that YOU CANNOT do. Now the police will ask that you give a written statement as to the events that took place in your presence. This way they have it in your words exact. From this they can possibly come up with more questions to ask of you. Good Luck and hope all turns out well for you. OK, your location, the time, what the suspects were driving, color, plate number how many doors how many suspects. Length of hair, facial hair anything that stood out, like scars, face masks. Did you see them carrying anything, like stereos, TV's Bags, etc. All this should be in your statement. The direction the suspects left in. If you know who they are or where they went. ALL of this is important and can help the police in bringing this to an end.

Paragraph 1. [about you]
Para. 2. [about your apartment]
Para. 3. [about the day of the burglary]
Para. 4. [about the damage to your apartment and what was stolen]
Para. 5. [about how you feel]
Para..6. [state that this is the truth]
When you write a statement you should be able to read it aloud and sound like you're speaking.
If you need any help with what to write in each paragraph let me know and I'll try to help.

Lena, mampytanie! Is this for real or for homework?
A witness statement can be really serious if it is for the police.
Different types of witnesses make different types of statements..., what I mean is that an ordinary person would be a 'witness', but a policeman would be a 'professional witness' and a specialist would be an 'expert witness'.
Their statements would be written differently.
Which one are you?
Does this make any sense? mail me if you still need to know and i'll help if I can.
