it is hard to say from romanised single words maybe you can show us the Japanese forms or the sentances you saw them in but hito could be one of two words either 人 whch is like person/man/women/people.worker depnding on how its used　or ひと which is used to say one/a/an hoshi could be 星 star or could be 欲しい which is want/ would like wish/ hope for kyaku could be 客 meaning visitor/guest/caller/ customer/client
