Perbedaan antara SMA dan SMEA :
*SMA (Sekolah Menengah Atas), means ordinary high school. SMA di Indonesia terdiri dari 3 jurusan (majority), jurusan science/IPA (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam), jurusan social science/IPS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial) dan jurusan languages/bahasa. Tidak semua SMA mempunyai jurusan bahasa,namun semua SMA mempunyai jurusan IPA dan IPS untuk siswa-siswanya. Jurusan bahasa tergantung (depends) kepada sekolah, ada yang mempunyai program jurusan bahasa Arab (mostly for Islamic high school), Bahasa Indonesia,Bahasa Inggris atau Bahasa Jepang. Siswa dapat memilih jurusan jika mereka sudah kelas XI (year 11th).
-SMEA (Sekolah Menengah Ekonomi Atas) means vocational high school in economic field. Biasanya,di SMEA ada jurusan Akuntansi,Manajemen, Administrasi, atau Bisnis (depends on school).
Persamaannya : lama SMA dan SMEA adalah 3 tahun tapi beberapa sekolah mempunyai proram kelas akselerasi (acceleration) jadi, siswanya juga bisa lulus setelah 2 tahun.
