bear = to suffer the burden of carry = to have You could change the words round in your example sentence. The writer use two different words for style. It is bad style to repeat words in a sentence. E.g. He bears the cross and bears his scars. = bad style

Carry= transport bear= hold up or carry within in you, put up with, tolerate. This sentence refers to Christ carrying the cross for mankind and putting up with the scars he suffered. Are you referring to the Guns and Roses song or the Bible?
