What does an IV mean here?
A woman said to a bartender, "Can I have a martin, please? And an IV if you have one." after she had seen her boyfriend kissing another girl. What does an IV mean here?

Hi Cyanstar, please do not quote me on this, but I believe that she is jokingly referring to directly injecting alcohol into her blood stream to get drunk faster. IV in this context is not meant to be taken literally, nor is the bartender expected to literally fulfill her request. That said, I bet the bartender receives similar requests all the time: some people drink alone at bars when they're stressed or upset and use alcohol to not directly confront their problems. Hope this helps!

This is a joke. The woman wants to put the martini directly into her bloodstream so she gets drunk really fast because she's upset. This is obviously extremely dangerous and so she is not going to really do it. The bartender will understand why this is a joke.
IVs are used in medical situations to inject medications directly into the bloodstream.

Hey
Typically IV is a medical term that stands for “intravenous” which basically means through the vein! I’m not sure what it would mean in this context though that’s the best I have :) Hope it helps!
