As mentioned, I believe having a native grasp in both English and Spanish is an advantage. It allows me to easily translate idiomatic concepts and expressions that don’t have literal equivalent from one language to the other. I can draw meaning from my native understanding of both languages (and my experience in using both in daily life) to find the right examples and the closest translations from the source to the target language. I studied linguistics and, even though it is generally not required for a language teacher to be trained in linguistics, there is a growing number of experts in the community who believe it's a huge plus. I've drawn countless knowledge from it to teach.

I think we really learn by doing, therefore, my teaching is based on the Communicative Approach, among others, since I know that the more we talk and interact in a language, the more we learn and improve our communicative skills; for this reason, I count on a wide range of material like Power Point presentations, pictures, readings, games, news articles, audios, posters, videos, etc. I always design the class according to each learner’s needs and preferences because learning a language should be an amusing and challenging experience instead of a stressing or boring task where grammar is not necessarily the main goal.
