Verb To Be in Spanish

In Spanish, there are two forms for the verb "To Be" in English. These are "Ser" and "Estar". Do you know what's the difference?

"Ser" is used to express the idea of a lasting features/characteristics. "Estar" for location of objects/persons or temporary states.
"Estar" is used to express the idea of a lasting features/characteristics. "Ser" for location of objects/persons or temporary states.
Why you people need to have two forms of the verb "To Be"? Isn't enough with one?
