Certified British English Teacher as well as Accent reduction and Pronunciation Coach from London My name's Verity and I was born and grew up in London. The reason I decided to become an English teacher is because I am passionate about linguistics and believe that with the correct approach anybody can learn a language and have fun whilst doing so. For the past few years i've been trying to teach myself Turkish. At first I found it frustrating and was tempted to give up but I persevered and it soon became one of my main hobbies. I even decided to move to Turkey, where I ended living for a few years. This experience has made me a better English teacher as I can put myself in my students shoes and sympathise with them. I believe people learn best when they are completely relaxed. For this reason, I try to make my lessons as casual as possible so my students feel confident enough around me to practice and make mistakes. I encourage my students to choose the course of each lesson as I think it is important for them to be in control of their learning. Before each lesson I ask them to consider the topics they would like to discuss or the areas they are finding challenging. Cancellation Policy: Lessons can’t be cancelled or rearranged less than 24 hours before the start of lesson time. If a student fails to attend a lesson I will wait in the classroom for one third of the lesson’s duration before leaving the platform.
