Chika

I've been having lessons with Chika-san for three years now. She explains everything clearly and patiently, and has an excellent knowledge of teaching grammar. I've also learned so many more useful words and expressions beyond those introduced in traditional classes. She also suggests resources for me to look at later, giving us more time for conversation. Her English is excellent, so there is never any problem with communication I highly recommend Chika-san as a teacher, and am looking forward to continuing our lessons in the coming year.

Chika Sensei's class is wonderful. She assesses your level, and gives you a very personalized lesson. She has many topics to discuss, and guides you step by step in conversational Japanese! If you are nervous, or hesitant, she is so patient and kind and helps you with any doubts. I absolutely recommend Chika Sensei Her class seemed so short, I can't wait to see her next lesson, and to see her Trivia at the end of the class! La clase de Sensei Chika es una de las mejores clases que he tomado en iTalkie. Ella te contacta de antemano para saber tu nivel y prepara la clase de manera muy personalizada, teniendo mucho material para trabajar, y te guía paso a paso en conversación y gramática de la lengua japonesa haciéndote sentir cómoda y quitándote los nervios. It's been a year now, taking weekly lessons with ちか先生. Our conversation topica are always varied, but often about sharing each other's culture and daily lives. It's never a dull moment! She naturally sets the level of Japanese slightly higher than what I'm used to, so my proficiency is always improving. Her explanations about Japanese are always very insightful and help me a lot in solidifying my understanding of the rules and systems that govern the language. We mostly try to talk to each other in Japanese, but her English is excellent, when the explanation in Japanese is too difficult for me to understand. I highly recommend her lessons, no matter how proficient you are. 今年もよろしくお願いします！

This lesson marked the end of another year, and it really made me reflect on how far I’ve come in learning Japanese with Chika-sensei. Thanks to her lessons, I’ve been practicing speaking Japanese consistently for almost 3 years now. I still remember how hard it felt at the beginning to express myself, but now I can understand most conversations and share my thoughts and experiences in simple Japanese with much more confidence. Her lessons always feel natural and encouraging, never stressful. Whether we’re talking about daily life, culture, anime, dramas, or social topics, she creates a comfortable space where I want to keep speaking and trying. Last lesson of 2025! I initially picked Chika-sensei as an italki teacher because I wanted guidance on Japanese calligraphy. I value being able to write in Japanese, but even though I was studying kanji stroke order and such, it was mostly scribbles. I figured I should work on improving that. She certainly has a very sharp eye for detail! Now we mix calligraphy feedback with regular conversation on topics I like, which mostly focus on Japanese culture, daily life, and interesting Japanese vocabulary. She has a good sense of when to let you talk, and when to give you corrections which she’ll send to you in the chat. She’s a great conversationalist with a lot to talk about, and is great at keeping the conversation going if you aren’t sure what to talk about. Very friendly lessons. Looking forward to 2026!
