Hi, I'm Laura! I hail from a village near Cambridge in England (a true pueblarina) and currently live in Toronto, Canada. I'm an actor, vocalist, and teacher.
I earned my BA in Musical Theatre from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, completed my MA at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, and received my PhD from the University of Birmingham. I also hold a Level 5, 168-hour TEFL qualification.
I love helping others reach their language goals. I’ve produced several films and shows through my non-profit production company and am especially dedicated to supporting individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, amplifying voices that are often marginalized or siloed.Minha atuação como professor
I am an experienced teacher with expertise in teaching English as a foreign language, as well as English literature, LAMDA, drama, and classical/ESTILL voice. Every student is unique, so I tailor programs to fit each individual’s likes, interests, passions, and inspirations. My philosophy is that we learn more effectively when we are enjoying ourselves, often learning without even realizing it. I strive to incorporate content that engages my students, drawing from video content, podcasts, and news articles that address issues, current affairs, and topics of interest to them. The road to achieving fluency and accuracy is through practice! In my lessons, I incorporate a variety of elements, such as reading, quizzes, free talk, and role-play, to make the learning process as fun and interactive as possible. My teaching is tailored to YOUR individual interests and needs, featuring personalized content. During the trial session, we’ll discuss your interests and language goals. Based on your responses, I will create customized learning materials to effectively suit your needs. My lessons are designed to be both challenging and enjoyable. I really enjoy our lessons!
Laura is punctual and professional, always comes prepared with exercises so we can practise the topics I struggle with. Moreover, she always provide useful feedback on how to improve my pronunciation and fluency.
