I am leul Y. Mamo. I was born and raised in Ethiopia. I graduated with a BA in law from Addis Ababa University and I am currently pursuing my masters degree in Sociology at Indigara Ghandi National Open University. I love reading books, learning languages and photography. I am a native Amharic speaker and an advanced English speaker : I learned English at a young age, 5 or 6 to be precise. I am currently learning Turkish, Spanish and dabbling in a few others.Minha atuação como professor
I have been teaching Amharic including English informally for a few years now. And I have been learning languages way before that. So, over the years I have gathered different methods and technics to better learn and teach my target languages. I believe for a successful language learning journey two things are generally essential : the first one is understanding the writing system and pronunciation and the second one is "cultural immersion". Without proper pronunciation improving your listening and speaking skills down the road is impossible and without cultural references understanding the nuances of a language will be impossible. During my lessons I use both Amharic and English as medium of instruction. So, that my students would get used to spoken Amharic while at the same time not getting overwhelmed. For beginners I always start by teaching the alphabet and the sound system of Amharic: because that is the first key to mastering a language. That will take a few lessons of 3 to 5 hours. Then I will progress to teaching them phrases they can use in a conversation. For intermediate & Advanced speakers, I will either teach them grammar or have a casual conversation with them or both and that will depend on their preference. I will be providing them with materials they will use to revise their lessons.Meu material de ensino
