Hello, I am Iyo! I’m from Japan. I have been living in the U.S. for over 7 years and also lived in Australia for 2 years. I have been studying English since I was 13 and I am still learning, so I understand how difficult learning a new language can be. I will encourage and motivate you, and it’s okay to make mistakes! There is no judgment in my classroom. Mistakes are part of learning. I am energetic, passionate, patient, and supportive. My lessons are simple, practical, and fun! I teach natural Japanese with English support, gradually increasing Japanese as you improve. I have my own curriculum and worksheets, so you don’t need any textbooks—just your passion for learning Japanese! I completed a 420-hour Japanese language teacher training course and the Japanese language teaching competency course as well. I have experience teaching Japanese to kids, and adults both in group lesson and individual courses. This has helped me to understand and adjust to different learning styles and helped me to identify the needs of different students. I will encourage and motivate you and you can know that it is ok to make mistakes! There is no judgement in my classroom, this is all a part of the learning process. I am energetic, passionate, patient, bright, friendly and open minded. My lessons are simple, unique, bright and fun! I have been studying Japanese since July 2025, and Iyo is my first and only Japanese teacher. I have a lot of experience studying foreign languages. During lessons with Iyo, I have to think every second—there are no pauses—and I really appreciate that. I highly recommend this outstanding teacher.

Iyo-sensei is so much fun to talk to. She is energetic, kind, and patient. Talking with her gives me the much needed speaking and listening practice I don’t usually get when I’m self studying. She guides me very well when I’m trying to think of words and is a great teacher. I can’t wait for more lessons with her.

Iyo-sensei is a wonderful and patient teacher! We always have such engaging conversations which really challenges me to use a wide variety of words and grammar. She encourages whenever I have to stop and think before speaking. I truly look forward to speaking with her every week because I know I’m going to walk away from our lesson more confident in my Japanese.
