I’m Liza, I’m your new Russian‑language teacher! I was born in Russia’s far‑north Murmansk Region, spent years studying and working in vibrant Moscow, and have now settled in Tel Aviv – ginger cat in tow (he’s already mastered lounging in the Middle‑Eastern sun). Outside the classroom you’ll usually find me soaking up art exhibitions, experimenting in the kitchen, or planning my next trip to explore a new culture. I look forward to sharing language, stories, and a lot of curiosity with you this term.

This lesson with Liza was an exceptional and well-structured deep dive into the Russian language. She masterfully balanced essential grammar with engaging, interactive activities that made complex topics feel accessible and fun. The session was highly effective because of the practical grammar mastery. Using the question Где? (Where?), we practiced the prepositional case. The clear breakdown for masculine, neuter, and feminine nouns made understanding these endings much simpler. The word-search puzzle was a great way to memorize everyday locations like shop, pharmacy, and university. We moved from theory to practice by identifying where people work and spend their time, such as students walking in a park or studying at a university. The True or False section was a highlight, challenging us to use verbs correctly while debunking humorous stereotypes about students and businessmen. The personal introduction template provided a perfect framework for practicing speaking in a natural way.

Liza is the kind of teacher who makes a language like Russian feel like a warm invitation rather than a chore. She has a wonderful way of making the classroom feel personal and alive, moving beyond just "delivering a lesson" to truly sharing the heart of the culture. Her warmth shines through her vibrant energy. She understands that for a beginner, the "wall of grammar" can be intimidating, so she breaks it down into bite-sized, colorful pieces. Whether she's explaining the nuances of gender or how to conjugate a new verb, she does it with an encouraging smile that makes you feel like you've got this. What makes her special is how she weaves creativity into her challenges. She uses "Sentence Auctions" and hands-on projects because she knows that playing and creating are the fastest ways to learn. To keep things fresh, she also selects excellent videos to back up the material. She isn’t a rigid lecturer; she’s an insightful guide who makes you feel right at home with the language.

Great lesson with genders, endings to classify nouns. Repetition of hard and soft vovels, and some questions and answers. I really need to use my head in the lessons, they stimulate me to work on the language and start getting creative with the language :)

Another great lesson with Liza. She's really challenging me to speak, and it just feels like a total emptiness in my head sometimes. I have many words, but it takes time to learn how to use them. And my process is not automated yet, so i have to search for each word. With Lizas help I'm able to have patience. I even learnt to propagate verbs according to the pronouns. That's beginning to get automated. Tank you for this lesson also - I can absolutely reccomend Elizaveta to anyone learning Russian! 😊

Lena provides a fantastic mix of grammar, vocabulary, and culture. The lesson was perfectly structured, moving from phonetics practice to grammar rules, and then applying it all with interactive exercises like crosswords. She goes beyond just textbook definitions—teaching me the 'real' Russian, such as which female profession forms are polite versus rude, and how nicknames are used. A 5-star experience!

That was a super fun lesson with Liza! We did some serious language nerding but kept it light. First, we matched funny dog memes to phrases like "Привет" (Hi) and "Дела – ужасно!" (Things are terrible!). The dog sitting among the mess perfectly taught me how to say I'm having a rough day. 😂 Then, we dove into sounds. The biggest shock was the O-to-A rule (vowel reduction). If O isn't stressed, it turns into an A sound. That’s why хорошо́ (good) is pronounced kharashó, not horosho. It's like the unstressed vowels get lazy! We also looked at how vowels soften consonants: Hard Vowels: а, о, у, ы, э (Keep the sound tough) Soft Vowels: я, ё, ю, и, е (Make the consonant before them soft/squishy) Learning these simple sound tricks makes reading so much easier. It feels like I cracked a secret code today! Thanks, Liza!
