My name is Kevin, I’m from Detroit. I have about every hobby you can try, so I feel like I’m never getting to any of them. My friends joke that I have some story or connection to every subject we talk about. I’ve been a sports photographer, a webmaster, a stand-up comedian, a car salesman, and a robot operator. Really though, I absolutely love teaching, because it’s the ultimate form of learning. I currently tutor private students and I also teach boxing to kids as a volunteer. I can’t get enough of seeing someone use what you taught them in a real situation.

I’ve lived in Japan since 2013 and taught big and small classes, groups for specialized learning, auditoriums for presentation skills, and a lot of online classes during those years. Most of my teaching career has been teaching business-level English to adults, but I do have taught school kids as well. I also have two young sons that I’ve been teaching English since birth. I’m well versed in English grammar and I love conversations.

My goal is to make everyone laugh at least once every day. I think relaxation and comfort are both necessary steps in learning something, because you need to use those as a foundation to focus and drill on more complex materials. Conversation classes are effective for students who have focused on reading and grammar through school, but I also think that workbook and writing practice are necessary. Ultimately it’s up to you, as you won’t study something you don’t feel like doing.
