The one thing I love the most about Rafael is that he makes me think. The Spanish I learn with him is just an extremely delicious side dish.

An absolute all-star teacher! I have been a regular student of Rafa’s for a while, and I always leave fully energized after our Spanish chats. The conversation flows, and I hardly note that any of my deficiencies in the language are barriers to deep and meaningful exchanges. I absolutely recommend his “Next Level Spanish!” modules, where he finds thought-provoking material, based on common interests, to review before the class. I often wish that the clock would just freeze, as his questions and suggestions generate so much intrigue that I just hate having to disconnect. Thank you, Rafa, for bringing my Spanish to a level of real connection and vitality. You’ve got a special gift for inspiring and lifting those around you.

My first class with Rafael was a well-rounded session in which he gave me plenty of opportunities to talk while he guided the conversation. He was excellent at segueing between interrelated topics, and the class went much further than just grammar corrections, even though he provided that, too. What I like about his style is how the discussion goes into more philosophical territory. Thanks, Rafael!

Never a dull day with Rafael.

I had a great first class with Rafael and enjoyed the more informal teaching style. It works well if your goal is to take your Spanish to the next level and gain confidence when speaking. Perhaps, less so if starting from scratch but he does keep track of mistakes and explains them. I felt comfortable, even though I hadn’t used my Spanish in years. His varied life experience and personal depth really come through in his curiosity and ability to ask questions that make you reflect. I look forward to more discussions!
