Prof. Danilo Pinali

Danilo is a fantastic teacher with a highly effective approach. We start our lessons with a conversation in Italian, and during that conversation Danilo identifies some vocabulary and a grammar point or two that I could improve. We spend the rest of the lesson playing with the words and the grammar. After each lesson, I get notes and a recording of key sentences that we’ve worked on, allowing me targeted home study that strengthens my weak spots. This is a form of active learning that is highly engaging, growing naturally from my desire to communicate in Italian. Danilo’s approach is dramatically different from other foreign language instruction that I’ve had. There is no curriculum that dictates what should be taught and when. Instead, it’s all based on what I actually need in the moment. If you are looking to turbo charge your Italian, Danilo is your man. I’m incredibly grateful to have found him. I started my Italian lessons with Danilo in September of 2024 after being frustrated with my solo attempts at learning Italian. Since then I've made major improvements in both my comprehension and speaking abilities in an environment that's been enriching, challenging, and fun. A typical lesson begins with conversation in Italian. Throughout the discussion Danilo makes notes which we then use in the second portion of the lesson for more structured review. This can include everything from vocabulary and grammatical constructs, to the nuance of idiomatic Italian. The key being that those lessons are grounded in a genuine and memorable experience from the earlier conversation. After each lesson he follows up with a running document of notes as well as recordings which allow me to be able to practice both speaking and listening comprehension. Danilo's approach is adaptive, engaging, and most importantly -- effective. I'd recommend him to anyone looking to improve their language skill

Good lesson, highly practical approach. Danilo is focused on training the correct application of the language and at no point was it just filling in the blanks with conventional language learning. Highly recommended.
