My name is Americo, and I am your "Old Soul" Italian Tutor. I am 41 and originally from Latina (Lazio), but I currently live in the stunning medieval city of Lucca, in Tuscany.
CEDILS- and TEFL-certified, with a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature, I’ve been teaching Italian as a second language since 2017 to students from 37 countries, using English and Spanish as bridge languages.
I lived and worked in the UK, Spain, and Germany, gaining strong intercultural sensitivity. I speak fluent English and Spanish, plus basic French.

With 9 years of experience, I offer a versatile and empathetic approach focused on natural, practical language learning—always without unnecessary pressure. Each lesson is carefully adapted to your rhythm and learning style, in a relaxed and positive atmosphere where smiles matter.
I see myself as an ambassador of Italian culture, supporting Italian-Americans in reconnecting with their roots and expats in fully integrating into life in Italy. 📚 Our Sessions
I offer structured learning paths for all levels (A1–C1), based on an original syllabus I created. Each 50-minute lesson is divided into two parts.
🗣️ Conversation (20–30 min): We start by breaking the ice, talking naturally about you and your daily life, focusing on useful, real-world language.
📖 Grammar & Practice (20–30 min): new rules emerge through dialogues and readings and are immediately applied with practical exercises.
📄 Materials included: all PDF materials and personalised lesson plans.

I reached out to Americo to help me prepare for my next trip to Italy and he is the perfect tutor for this situation. He has worked in the hospitality industry in the past and therefore very helpful - very ideal, when it comes to "role playing" excercises for various conversations I may have during my trip. I feel very at ease and supported during the lessons, which seems to go fast - Americo is great at keeping the conversation going. I have improved so much just in the few lessons I've had with him and feel more confident with my Italian. After my trip, my language learning goal is to move up to a higher level for Italian and I can already tell that Americo will help me get there.

Learning Italian is one of hardest and most challenging thing I have ever done, but thanks to Americo it continues to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. He is a very patient and encouraging, empathetic and kind teacher. Americo’s professionalism, intuitive nature and attention to detail means that every single lesson is productive and purposeful, but also fun and interesting. He is very good at identifying what I need to work on, when I need to be challenged and when I need help.
I really value and appreciate Americo’s support and encouragement, especially when I am struggling and finding things difficult, he always manages to find a way to turn these moments of frustration into a positive experience. I’ve been taking lesson with Americo for 2 years. His thoughtful tutelage has been instrumental in my language learning journey. I’ve gone from knowing nothing to being able to hold my own in Italian conversation over that time, and I can’t imagine where I would be without Americo. A great teacher and friend.
