Melissa's classes are very engaging. She is easy-going, patient, and extremely organized. Her deep teaching experience is evident in how skillfully she can teach beginning students all the way through advanced learners. Having studied well beyond HSK6+ level of Mandarin, but still struggling to get to native-level fluency, Melissa has been able to build a customized curriculum for me that is challenging, fun, and effective. Each class gives plenty of time for ad-hoc conversation, dedicated review and reading, as well as listening to authentic media with discussion. Highly recommended!

Melissa makes very efficient use of lesson time. I just had a 30-minute lesson with her so she could see what level my Chinese is and she still managed to squeeze a vocabulary lesson into that short time. Her English level is very high, so she has no trouble understanding you if you need to say something in English. But she's a good teacher because she still speaks Chinese even when you as the student drift into English. She keeps you feeling like you are immersed in a Chinese conversation, so your brain won't revert back to English thinking and lose the Chinese state of mind.

Melissa is great teacher. She encourages me and and helps me learn. She gives thoughtful examples and her pronunciation is very clear.
