Hello, everyone! I am Elena. I am from Guangzhou, a city in south China.
My Chinese name is Jiaxian; I am a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese.

When I was in New Zealand for a working holiday a few years ago, I realized that learning their language is always the best way to know more about different cultures. We went through new material today. Whenever I didn't know the word for something, my teacher would always explain it to me and write down the character. My teacher would always ask me questions as usual to back up my understanding, and comment as we went through the reading exercises, making them feel lively.

After experiencing lessons with other teachers, I can confidently say that I REALLY enjoyed my second class with her! She made learning fun, and our lesson was well-structured yet flexible, allowing me to speak a lot without feeling lost or unsure of what to say. Talking to her felt so natural, almost like chatting with a friend. I’ll definitely be taking more classes with her!
