Hello Everyone! My name is Caron and I live in Toronto, Canada. I’m originally from Hong Kong and I have lived in Canada for over 20 years. I can speak Cantonese, English and Mandarin fluently. I’m passionate about languages. I love languages so much that I have tried to learn a total of 10 different languages before! Now I’m learning French and Japanese and I plan to become fluent in them in the near future. I possess a Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics as well as a TESL certificate, which all enabled me to have a solid understanding of language teaching and learning. I am also a vocal coach, so I can help you learn how to sing Cantonese, English and Mandarin songs too! Having worked with students of all ages (from 2 years old to over 80 years old) and from all walks of life, I’m very good at understanding, observing and analyzing students’ needs. I am very patient and I strive to help all my students succeed. I have a huge collection of teaching materials, so I can select the best and the most suitable resources to help my students improve their language skills. Of course, I expect my students to participate actively in class and complete the assigned homework so we can see reasonable progress within a certain time frame. Ms Caron developed a bespoke Cantonese lesson series for me to help me express myself better and learn colloquial expressions and slang. I immigrated from Hong Kong as a child so I’m not quite beginner. We were able to skip the basics and go right into improving conversational skills, replacing my Chinglish with natural sounding Cantonese. She fosters an encouraging and positive environment where I can be comfortable making mistakes. I’ve definitely improved over the course of 5 lessons.

After a few lessons with 黃老師，I can really appreciate her help with my unique situation of achieving oral fluency. Despite already knowing how to read and understand Cantonese, my speaking is choppy and problematic when trying to explain things beyond the nutshell. She has the uncanny ability to pick up on the little things and always quick to offer ways to correct my speech. I hope to get closer to my goal with her support! Thank you :)

Ms. Caron is very nice and patient. I feel that my speaking has improved a lot, and I am becoming more confident in expressing myself. The class atmosphere is relaxed, so I don’t feel nervous and can learn more comfortably. Thank you for the teaching.
