Hi everyone! I’m Tim, a native English speaker with a clear, neutral accent—perfect for mastering natural pronunciation. Originally from Canada and now based in Berlin, I blend five years of teaching experience with a professional background in music production and sound engineering. My training in classical guitar and sound recording gives me a keen ear for rhythm and clarity, which I use to help students refine their English speaking skills. Fluent in French and German (and dabbling in Spanish), I deeply understand the challenges of language learning. I've had the pleasure of teaching children and adults from A1 to C2 using adaptive methods that respect the needs of each individual. While I believe that learning grammar and vocabulary are extremely important aspects of language learning, I like to have meaningful discussions with students, using this context as a vehicle to deliver new language skills. My background in music has helped me to develop skills as an expert in English pronunciation, coaching students on how to develop a clear, neutral English accent. I focus on speaking, using a variety of topics, ranging from day to day activities to broader subjects. For this reason, I find conversation provides a relaxed context for understanding each student’s ability with the aim of designing a plan to challenge each student to improve their pronunciation, style, grammar and vocabulary. I write notes while students speak. This helps when suggesting alternative language and for later review.
Young learners: I try to understand what inspires each student and then use this as a way to connect with them while delivering new language skills.
