Hi, my name is Yaakov and I am a native English speaker from Australia. I have been a teacher for 20 years overseas and taught in four countries and have been teaching online for 7 years. Before that, I was a Real Estate Agent and a Linguist in the military. My passions are languages and travel. I like to keep things informal and conversational, looking for weaknesses in structure to bring a student up in all levels of their language. I have had excellent results assisting students with IELTS preparation. I have studied several languages. I have studied several languages (and use Italki to study more) and this helps me a lot with understanding the challenges that some learners may face. The great thing about Italki is that you are in charge. I can teach a full curriculum course from A1 to C2 step by step, or have more free flow conversation as you please.

James is a nice and engaging teacher who learns languages himself and he gave me useful pieces of advice on how to improve my level of English (can be applied to German also because I'm learning German as a second foreign language or it can be any other language) and he said that my English is actually higher than I thought which is great! It was nice to hear feedback from him and learn advice on language learning for today! It's amazing that he's learning Russian and as a native Russian speaker, I'd say his Russian is good. It was a great class today!

Teacher James is easygoing and encouraging. He suggested improving fluency and pronunciation by watching TV shows to activate useful words and phrases. It really helps a lot! Practice makes perfect!
