Fabiana Fang

Fabiana is a superb educator. In our first lesson together, she came prepared with activities and was able to modify them on the fly to fit my skill level. Figuring out a student's strengths and weaknesses in about 20 minutes then still managing to teach something after that on the first day is an impressive ability I've yet to encounter in any other teacher. She's energetic, passionate about teaching, creative, and ready to adapt what she does in order to better teach. The number of lessons I've taken (a number that will continue to grow) is a testament to her skill.

Fabi is an excellent teacher. I've been working with her for a couple of months now and I couldn't be happier. She has a talent for making lessons fun and relevant to real life while keeping me on course with the textbook. One thing that's especially helpful for me is that sometimes my work life keeps me from studying as much as I should, but she's awesome at adjusting our pace as needed and staying encouraging. Since I'm at a very beginner level, it's also super helpful that she is so knowledgeable about grammar and how to think through it between Mandarin and English. She is great at anticipating differences or similarities that would be helpful to point out, and I can also ask any question. And at the same time she pushes and supports doing as much of our communicating in Mandarin as possible. I highly recommend this teacher!

I've been taking classes from Fabiana for over a year now. She is an incredible teacher. She is very diligent about helping me improve and clearly takes pride in her work. I've learnt a lot from her that I couldn't have picked up from textbooks or self-learning. For example, she spotted that I had been writing several characters in traditional chinese wrongly and gave me a tip to check a taiwanese-chinese dictionary when learning unfamiliar characters. As an intermediate learner, I have periods where I want to give up on learning. But every time i have a lesson with Fabiana I start feeling excited about the language again. Even when I get lazy and want to spend the lesson chatting about nonsense, she always gets the lesson back on track and makes sure that I learn something new. Thanks Fabi for helping me improve and I hope to be able to continue learning from you!

I've been practicing conversation with Fabiana for a few weeks now and her lessons are always a lot of fun and push me to expand my vocabulary and use more appropriate grammar. She even goes as far as to make a list of all the vocab we use each class. Within 2 months I already feel a lot more confident about speaking in Chinese.

Homework suggestion and sentence structure

At this point I have had many lessons with Fabiana and I have enjoyed every single one! She is awesome at explaining concepts and is very patient, all of which is helping me gain confidence in speaking Mandarin.
