L'élève dépasse le maître Hi ! Does someone know how translate "l'élève dépasse le maître" in english ? It's a expression which means that one person does better than his model/teacher. I need it for a presentation and neither my teacher and my dictionnary were able to translate it. Thank you ! :)

And here I thought this was a Chinese-y, kung fu-y kind of expression :) I would say, "The student has surpassed/surpasses the master."
