Jake hasn't got enough money to go on holiday this year, but that's a petty problem **compared to what some people have to deal with** I don’t understand the structure of the ** sentence, can you help me and suggest me what to look for on the grammar book to better understand? I'm not sure exactly which point isn't clear so I'll try to explain them all. “Compared to” => in comparison with, ex: an elephant is big compared to a mice “What some people have to deal with” => I assume that in this context, “what” refers to problems in general, so this part of the sentence essentially means: “the problems people have to deal with”, to deal with something means to face something. I could rewrite that sentence like this: “Compared to the problems some other people have to face, the fact that Jake hasn't got enough money to go on holiday this year is a petty problem” I hope that helps, let me know if you need further explanations.
