Hello dear students! Today I would like to pay attention to such a topic as congratulations in Russian. Every culture has its own etiquette of congratulations; there are clichƩ phrases suitable for any occasion, and more specific wishes applied to specific people and on a specific occasion. It is important to be familiar with this etiquette, because if a language mistake is easily forgiven by native speakers, then a cultural mistake is unlikely. Today we will analyze such topics as birthday congratulations, happy new year and Merry Christmas in Russian, and many more.
Construction Congratulate - "ŠŠ¾Š·Š“ŃŠ°Š²Š»ŃŃ" + Accusative case + preposition "Ń" + Instrumental case
ā¢ ŠŠ¾Š·Š“ŃŠ°Š²Š»ŃŃ + ŃŠµŠ±Ń (кого? ŠŠøŠ½ŠøŃŠµŠ»ŃŠ½Ńй паГеж) + Ń + ŠæŃŠ°Š·Š“ником (Ń ŃŠµŠ¼? Š¢Š²Š¾ŃŠøŃŠµŠ»ŃŠ½Ńй паГеж)
ā¢ ŠŠ¾Š·Š“ŃŠ°Š²Š»ŃŃ + ŠŠ»ŠµŠŗŃŠµŃ (кого? ŠŠøŠ½ŠøŃŠµŠ»ŃŠ½Ńй паГеж) + Ń + ŃŠ±ŠøŠ»ŠµŠµŠ¼
ā¢ ŠŠ¾Š·Š“ŃŠ°Š²Š»ŃŃ ŠŠ°Ń (кого? ŠŠøŠ½ŠøŃŠµŠ»ŃŠ½Ńй паГеж) + Ń + ŃŠ¾Š¶Š“ением ŃŃŠ½Š°
To give your congratulations even better sound and sincerity, we can add the phrase to this construction:
ŠŃ Š²ŃŠµŠ¹ Š“ŃŃŠø - From all my heart
ŠŃ Š²ŃŠµŠ³Š¾ ŃŠµŃŠ“ŃŠ° ā from all my heart
ŠŃ ŃŠøŃŃŠ¾Š³Š¾ ŃŠµŃŠ“ŃŠ° [At chistava sertsa] Sincerely ( Russian idiom which doesnāt have a direct translation)
Thus, we get:
ŠŃ ŃŠøŃŃŠ¾Š³Š¾ ŃŠµŃŠ“ŃŠ° + ŠæŠ¾Š·Š“ŃŠ°Š²Š»ŃŃ + Accusative case + Ń + Instrumental case
⢠ŠŃ ŃŠøŃŃŠ¾Š³Š¾ ŃŠµŃŠ“ŃŠ° ŠæŠ¾Š·Š“ŃŠ°Š²Š»ŃŃ Š¼Š¾Š»Š¾Š“Š¾Š¶ŃŠ½Š¾Š² Ń Š“Š½ŃŠ¼ ŃŠ²Š°Š“ŃŠ±Ń! I sincerely congratulate the honeymooners on their happy wedding
If you want to congratulate a person in a very simple way, then you can simply say or write:

How to wish someone a Happy New Year?
In Russian culture, it is customary to start congratulating you on the New Year, even before the onset of the holiday. There is even a special phrase for this:
⢠«Д наŃŃŃŠæŠ°ŃŃŠøŠ¼! Ā». With coming New Year!
You can hear it anywhere a few days before the new year. Moreover, it is customary to speak it even to unfamiliar or completely unfamiliar people. For example, a typical situation is when a customer congratulates the store employee whilst leaving the store.
Directly on the New Year, it is customary to congratulate each other with the phrases:
⢠«Д Š½Š¾Š²ŃŠ¼ гоГом!Ā». ā Š ŃŃŠ¾Š¹ ŃŃŠ°Š·Šµ ŃŠ°ŠŗŠ¶Šµ ŃŠ°ŃŃŠ¾ ГобавлŃŃŃ Ā«Ń Š½Š¾Š²ŃŠ¼ ŃŃŠ°ŃŃŃŠµŠ¼Ā» (āWith new happinessā)
ā¢ Ā«Š”ŃŠ°ŃŃŠ»ŠøŠ²Š¾Š³Š¾ нового гоГа».
You can use the same phrases to reply to congratulations as in the Christmas situation.
We express our wishes sequentially according to the principle:
Personal life (family, relationships);
Society, self-realization (work, finance);
Body (appearance, health);
Soul (inner state):
Personal-Society-Body-Soul:
