Welcome to Kids English with Teacher Amanda! In this trial class, I’ll take time to get to know your child while gently assessing their current English level. The lesson is taught in a conversational format, allowing me to observe how well your child understands, speaks, and uses the vocabulary they already know.

We’ll talk about your child’s favorite things, explore basic topics, and interact in a relaxed, supportive way. As part of the class, your child will also participate in a fun reward activity—a scavenger hunt! Be ready to find a few things around the house!

This course is all about getting your child talking—however that works best for them! Whether through games, free-talk, or more structured lessons with dialogue practice, I tailor each class to your child’s interests and learning style. The goal is to build speaking and listening skills in a fun, low-pressure environment where they feel confident using English.

We’ll explore real-life topics like family, hobbies, seasons, favorite places, holidays, and more. Along the way, your child will learn valuable conversational and social skills—like how to ask questions, respond naturally to others, and stay engaged in a discussion. I provide gentle support with pronunciation, grammar, and natural sentence structure.

Join me for Story Time for Kids—an engaging way for children to learn English through stories loved by native-English-speaking children. Each lesson is designed to build vocabulary, listening skills, pronunciation, and reading fluency in a fun, meaningful way.

Our goal is to strengthen your child’s overall language development by:

Improving reading comprehension

Practicing reading aloud and pronunciation

Developing critical thinking by making personal connections

Building confidence in speaking and expressing ideas clearly

We read stories matched to your child’s level and discuss characters, plot, and real-life connections. I encourage your child to ask and answer questions, share thoughts, and think deeply about what they read. I support comprehension through techniques like Total Physical Response (gestures), modeling, and props.

In addition to picture books and chapter books, lessons may feature Little Fox leveled readers with short animations, vocabulary practice, comprehension quizzes, and reading aloud.

Reading in English builds essential language skills, encourages curiosity, and helps children develop empathy, imagination, and a lifelong love of learning.

English Story Time for Kids (READING)

Course: Vocabulary Builder for Kids

Do you want your child to become more fluent and confident in English? Are you often their go-to translator, or do they struggle to express themselves because of limited vocabulary? If so, this course is the perfect starting point!

Vocabulary is the foundation for comprehension and communication. In this course, your child will learn 5–10 new words per lesson through fun, interactive games and activities. We focus on helping them not just recognize these words, but use them in speaking, writing, listening, and reading. With each lesson, your child will grow their ability to understand and express ideas clearly in English.

English Vocabulary for Kids

Siblings can set off on their English-learning journey together in this special course designed for pairs of children with similar ages and English levels. Whether they join Story Time, Vocabulary, Conversation, or Pronunciation, lessons are adapted to meet their shared needs and interests.

In each class, I create a fun, interactive, and supportive atmosphere where siblings can learn side by side, encourage one another, and strengthen both their language skills and their bond. Activities are designed to promote teamwork, confidence, and natural language use.

Welcome to Beginners English for Kids—an exciting first step into the world of English! In this course, your child will learn the basics such as the alphabet, phonics, numbers, colors, simple grammar, and everyday vocabulary.

Each lesson focuses on building essential skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through fun, interactive activities. We use games, songs, stories, animations, and sentence-building exercises to help your child stay engaged while developing strong language foundations.

Lessons are playful, supportive, and paced to match your child’s needs. Whether we’re sounding out letters, identifying colors, or reading a short story, your child will grow in confidence and communication.

Beginners English for Kids

This course is designed to help young learners master the sounds of English and develop clear, confident pronunciation. It lays a strong foundation for reading, speaking, and listening comprehension by helping students understand how letters and sounds work together.

Through engaging stories, games, songs, and interactive exercises, students will explore key phonetic patterns and practice pronouncing common words and phrases. We’ll cover topics such as short and long vowels, blended sounds (like st, bl, tr), and letter teams (like sh, th, ch, ee, oa).

Whether your child is just starting to read or wants to improve their pronunciation, this course provides the essential building blocks for effective communication. Lessons are fun, supportive, and tailored to your child’s level—perfect for beginners and early learners.

Phonics and Pronunciation for Kids

This certificate qualifies me to teach English as a Foreign Language to adults, young learners, and also online. This course required me to create lesson plans and to reflect on the needs of my students based upon culture, age, location, and level. Course sections included the following:

The ECE Level 1 credential through Gateways to Opportunities signifies that I have achieved a foundational level of competence in the field of Early Childhood Education. This program covers early childhood education theories, best practices, and practical teaching strategies. This training is designed to introduce general child development, health and safety, school-age care, observation, environments for children, and the importance of the relationship with the family.

My degree in Social Work has equipped me with a strong foundation in child development, communication, and emotional support—skills I apply every day in my teaching to build trust, empathy, and positive connections with students and families.

I earned a certificate in French Language and Culture from the Centre Universitaire d'études Françaises, which deepened my understanding of second language acquisition and broadened my ability to connect with learners from diverse backgrounds.

This degree prepared me to engage competently in cross-cultural settings—an essential skill for teaching English to children from diverse backgrounds. My coursework included foreign language study, global literature, anthropology, geography, and cross-cultural communication, giving me a deep understanding of how culture and language intersect.

I welcomed refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo at a local church in Wichita, often serving as an interpreter between French and English. To support their integration and language development, I initiated a Family Mentor Program that paired refugee families with native English speakers for weekly language practice. In addition, I provided English instruction in both large group settings and one-on-one sessions, tailoring support to meet each family’s needs.

My experience as an infant teacher equips me with patience, adaptability, and empathy, valuable assets for teaching ESL to young learners. My ability to simplify language, customize teaching methods, and create a nurturing environment is enhanced by my time management, organizational skills, creativity, and classroom management expertise. My background uniquely positions me to offer effective and engaging ESL lessons for children.

This course provided training and expertise in teaching young learners. It focused on how children learn and develop and how this applies to the field of ESL.  This course also taught strategies for teaching reading, writing, listening, and speaking, to young learners.

As a VIPKID teacher, I taught over 730 Chinese students in more than 2,440 classes. I’ve worked with children ages 3 to 16 across all proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced. In addition to core curriculum, I’m certified and experienced in teaching specialized skills such as public speaking, advanced grammar, pronunciation, leveled reading, TOEFL preparation, and Free Talk. This broad experience has equipped me to support students with a wide range of goals and learning styles

As a Cambly Kids teacher, I had the privilege of teaching over 217 students in more than 1,750 classes. My students come from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds, representing diverse nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. This diversity has shaped my teaching approach to be culturally responsive and inclusive.

In my role as an ESL teacher, I taught young adult Chinese students with the goal of helping them achieve academic-level English proficiency, primarily at the intermediate level. I also provided supplementary courses in listening, speaking, and intermediate to advanced pronunciation. This position involved developing customized lesson plans, delivering targeted instruction, and conducting ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.

As a personal ESL tutor for an adult Iranian student preparing for the TOEFL exam, I provided targeted instruction across all language skills, including test-specific strategies and practice under simulated exam conditions. It was a rewarding experience to support the student’s progress and watch their confidence grow on the path to TOEFL success.

As a reading teacher with BookNook Inc., I provided instruction to students while assessing their reading levels and tailoring lessons to meet their needs. I utilized technology to enhance engagement, monitored progress closely, and offered targeted support to struggling readers. My goal was to build strong reading skills while inspiring a lifelong love of reading in every student.

I provided one-on-one tutoring in beginning-level French to a high school student, focusing on foundational vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills.

I provided beginning-level Portuguese tutoring to a group preparing for a mission trip to Mozambique, focusing on essential vocabulary, basic grammar, and culturally relevant communication skills.

I interned as an ESL teacher working with college-aged students, where I taught a Listening and Speaking course focused on improving fluency and communication skills. This hands-on experience led to a formal teaching position within the same program, allowing me to continue supporting students in developing their English proficiency.

While traveling in Blantyre, Malawi, I volunteered to teach several English classes at local schools. This experience allowed me to engage with students in a new cultural context and support their language learning through meaningful, hands-on instruction.
