こんにちは、Japanese with Yoshikoへようこそ！今日は先週サウジの家で開かれたウェルカムパーティーついてお話しします。今日のフレーズは「決まって」です。意味を知らない人はどういう意味か想像しながら聞いてみてくださいね。

先週末、サウジの家族が私たちのためにウェルカムパーティーをしてくれました。夫の両親、兄弟、その家族、私たちの合計14人が参加しました。今からちょうど1か月前に予定していましたが、みんなの予定が合わなかったり、体調が悪くなったりして先週末になりました。サウジの家族は大家族で、よく親戚の結婚式や誕生日会などのイベントに参加するので、なかなか予定を合わせるのが難しいです。
サウジの休日は金曜日と土曜日で、今回は木曜日の夜に行われました。サウジ人は夜型の人が多いので、小さな子供がいても夜にパーティーをするのは普通です。18時ごろから集まり、各自が持ち寄ったスィーツを食べたり、アラブの伝統的なコーヒーを飲みながらゆっくり話します。家族にもよりますが、うちの家族は男女別々の部屋でパーティーを楽しみます。私はお姉さんやお兄さんの奥さんと幼稚園の話をしたり、妹と美容や彼女の猫の話をして家族の時間を楽しむことができました。彼女たちとはよく家で会いますが、意外とこういう機会がないとゆっくり話ができないんですよね。
21時ごろからやっとディナーが始まりました。大きなパーティーの時は決まってズィビーハという羊肉が乗ったご飯の料理が出ます。（詳しくは第三回のエピソードを聞いてみてください。）でも、この料理は高すぎるし、息子も好きではないので、今回は子供たちも食べやすいように、ブッフェ料理を注文してくれました。息子は久しぶりのイタリアンパスタを美味しそうに食べていました。
お兄さんとお兄さんの子供たちは体調が悪いのに参加しました。何度かこのパーティーが延期になったので、家族のために無理をして来てくれました。家族の繋がりを大切にしたいというサウジ人の一面を垣間見ることができました。
