You can survive without adjectives, but not without knowing what something costs. This class builds the number system so you can produce numbers you were never taught: eleven to nineteen carry ten inside them, and the tens are simply two-ten, three-ten and so on. Then come the two words every price, salary and property value in Kerala depends on, ലക്ഷം and കോടി, with the Indian way of grouping digits. You also get rupees and change, the fractions used at every market stall, ordinals like the second house, metric measures, and a note on the old grain measures നാഴി and പറ. Words and phrases in this class: പതിമൂന്ന് (pathimoonnu) – thirteen ഇരുപത് (irupathu) – twenty എഴുപത് (ezhupathu) – seventy നൂറ് (nooru) – one hundred ആയിരം (aayiram) – one thousand ലക്ഷം (laksham) – one lakh (100,000) കോടി (kodi) – one crore (ten million) എത്ര രൂപയായി? (ethra roopayaayi?) – how much does it come to? ചില്ലറ ഉണ്ടോ? (chillara undo?) – do you have change? അര കിലോ (ara kilo) – half a kilo ഒന്നര കിലോ (onnara kilo) – one and a half kilos മുക്കാൽ (mukkaal) – three quarters രണ്ടാമത്തെ വീട് (randaamathe veedu) – the second house In this class: • One to a thousand, and the arithmetic you can hear inside the words • ലക്ഷം and കോടി, and how Indian digit grouping works • Rupees, change and market fractions: അര, കാൽ, മുക്കാൽ, ഒന്നര • Ordinals, metric measures and the old grain measures Quizzes below.
