You just tell them where have you been lol. It depends on the context and who’s asking. Most of the time they are just asking what you did today. So you can respond with what you did. I went to the park today. Or you can expand on that. Ex. I went to the mall with my friend. We shopped and saw a movie.

If you have a good relationship with him or her, just answer where you've been. But if you're not in good terms with that person, or maybe you're not very close with him or her then it's up to you if you'll respond or not. 😁
