toni
Dear native Cantonese speakers, Below are my questions... I would love your help. Thank you! 一日要做三[?]四個鐘頭 One day, I need 3 to 4 hours. What’s the character for “to” in this case? I know it sounds like zi, but I don’t know tone nor character. Yiu3 keoi3 soeng5 tong4 is my approximation of what I heard for the word “distant learning” What’s the “yiu keoi” in this case?   Yat1 lou haang4, yat1 lou sik6. Walk while eating. “Yat lou… Yat lou…” I heard means doing something at the same time. Did you know the character for “yat lou”?   “Dai zan si sin” is my very rough approximation of what I heard for the phrase “in the future.” Did you have any guess as to what this might actually look like in chinese characters?

三至四個鐘頭: three to four hours Note that we can drop the word 至 (jyutping: zi3), in which case, it becomes an estimate. 三四個鐘頭: roughly three or four hours. 遙距上堂 (jiu4 keoi5 soeng5 tong4): literally 'far-away (遙) distance (距) attend (上) class (堂)'. 一路行,一路食 (jat1 lou6 haang4, jat1 lou6 sik6). I would translate this as 'eat while walking' as opposed to 'walk while eating' though. 第陣時先 (dai6 zan6 si4 sin1): 有陣時 (jau5 zan6 zi4) means 'sometimes' or 'there exists a time'; 嗰陣時 (go2 zan6 si4) means 'at that time'; 第二陣時 (dai6 ji6 zan6 si4) means 'at another time', and is often shortened to 第陣時. 第陣時先[verb] means '(wait until / let's postpone to) another time to [verb]'.
