"Line" means "something that someone says." It's usually in the context of a movie, play, speech, or anything that requires prior writing.

For example, a "line" from Shakespeare's Hamlet is "To be or not to be, that is the question." Here's another example from the first line of Genesis: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth."
