I wrote( a letter ) about a visit to a zoo (in my country ) is this writing correct or does it have mistakes?

Dear Sarah,
Hi . How are you ?I hope you and your family are fine . It is quite a long time since I have heard from you. During this period I also did not write to you. Anyhow I am writing this letter now to describe my visit to Al Areen zoo that I visited with my family and younger brother last Monday . The zoo is situated in Al Sakhir and the cost of the tickets is only 1BD for each person . The zoo is opened at 9:00 till 4:00 am .

We went to see the crocodiles first. They were all sleeping in the sun . We then visited the deer. Some were big , some were small . There were spotted deer also . I wanted to see the monkeys so I ran off with my brother to their cages . There were so many baby monkeys playing with each other . They made us laugh. We spent some time watching them . We fed them fresh bananas because we find them cute while eating bananas in their way .

We then went to see the bear. There was only one bear in the zoo when I visited . It was big and black . It looked very sad. Maybe because its cage was smelly .

My brother was hungry and wanted to eat and my stomach also started to grumble , so we found a nice place to sit down and eat. My mother took out the sandwiches . They were very tasty and mouth-watering. I did not want to waste time eating the fruits so I went to see the birds. There were many different kinds of birds in the zoo . Some of them had beautiful colors . While watching the birds , the elephant came along .people were sitting on its bag . I felt sorry for it because it had to take so many people for rides.

My father wanted to see the snakes next . I don't like snakes ,so I stayed far . Before leaving the zoo ,we all went for a boat ride . I nearly fell into the water while looking over the side . My brother kept laughing at me and made me angry . We left the zoo at 4:00 .

Generally this is pretty good. A few things I'd pick out. 1. "During this period I also did not write to you" is grammatically correct but not very idiomatic. You could say something like, "I know I haven't been in touch either".  2. "The zoo is situated..." is again grammatically correct but not very idiomatic. When describing where something is we tend just to use "is", unless we are describing a very specific location (e.g. "the museum is situated at the left hand side of the square").  3. "..stomach also started to grumble" - it is much more common to say "rumble", though grumble is used (see NGram viewer) 4. "...mouth-watering" is usually used in anticipation of something, not to describe something you have already eaten  5. I would use "fruit" rather than "fruits" ("fruit" can mean lots of different kinds/pieces of fruit - it is an uncountable noun)  6. "People were sitting on its back (NOT bag)"  7. "... so I stayed far" - this is incorrect; you need to say either, "I stayed away" or "I stayed far away" or "I kept my distance".  8. "My brother kept laughing at me and this made me angry". Lots of the things I've picked out are questions of idiomatic usage, rather than grammatical or lexical errors.
