Profesyonel ÖğretmenOne mistake I often see with IELTS Speaking
Many students think a good IELTS Speaking answer needs to be clever or impressive.
It doesn't.
If you're asked, “Do you think people spend too much time on their phones?”, you don't need an original argument. You need an answer you can develop naturally in English.
Instead of:
“Yes, I think so.”
Try building your answer:
Opinion → Reason → Example → Result
“Yes, I think many people probably do. One reason is that checking your phone becomes almost automatic. For example, I sometimes see people looking at their phones even when they're having dinner with friends. As a result, I think it can actually make people less connected to the people around them.”
Don't memorise that answer. Practise the structure.
Try it yourself:
Do you think people spend too much time on their phones?
Remember: Opinion → Reason → Example → Result.
