Hi Sonia,
I'm a qualified English teacher from the UK, but I have been living in Italy for 6 years. I have lots of experience teaching Italian students. Usually I only speak English in lessons because I believe that an immersive experience is the best way for students to learn. Therefore I think it's perhaps not essential that a teacher speaks your language. However, I do speak Italian (I estimate my level is B1/2) and I think this can be helping as I often understand why an Italian native speaker chooses a specific word or phrase. If you have any questions or would like to discuss taking lessons, please send me a private message. I would be happy to help you.
