I was so surprised because I couldn’t watch the DVD. I went to a karaoke shop, but it didn’t have a DVD player. I’ll watch it at home instead.
Use “was surprised” for something that happened in the past, and “couldn’t” to say you weren’t able to do something. Also, we say “it didn’t have a DVD player”, not “it hasn’t DVD player.” Why we made these changes: Original Correction Why I’m so shocked - I was so surprised - “Shocked” is too strong and emotional for this everyday situation. “Surprised” fits better. Use past tense because it already happened. // I can’t watch - I couldn’t watch - Use past tense for something you tried to do in the past. it hasn’t DVD player - it didn’t have a DVD player - “Hasn’t” is not correct here. In British English, we use “have” or “has” with “do/does/did” in the negative. // I will watch - I’ll watch - “I’ll” is more natural and common in spoken British English. //
