Hi, everyone! What’s the difference between “I can” and “I’m able to”? Thanks in advance!

When talking about ability, they have the same meaning. However, 'be able to' is more formal. It is also more versatile - it can be used with other modal verbs (will, should, must) whereas 'can' cannot. 'Can' is also used to express possibility and permission. 'Be able to' is not.

I think in two things: I can play football, 'Can' to say in general; I'm able to play fotball after 6pm. 'able to' to say that you can do it in a specific time. I think so.
