Topluluk EğitmeniOne of the things I enjoy about British history is that some of the most interesting moments aren’t the ones people usually learn at school.
In 1952, a strange weather event changed London.
For several days, a thick layer of fog covered the city. But this wasn’t normal fog — it mixed with smoke from homes, factories, and traffic to create what became known as the Great Smog.
People could barely see in front of them. Buses stopped, events were cancelled, and daily life became difficult across the city.
The event led to major changes in air pollution laws and helped improve air quality in the years that followed.
History isn’t always made by battles or famous people - sometimes a few unexpected days can leave a lasting mark.
What’s a historical event from your country you think more people should know about?
