Hi friends and teachers, is it compulsory for us to put "the" before things that have been talked about. I was wondering if I can remove "the" in this case. Person A: I'm looking for a native speaker who can translate the subtitles on eight short videos into Chinese. Person B: 1. After reviewing your job descriptions, it's clear that you're looking for a native speaker who can translate the eight short videos'subtitles into Chinese. 2. It is clear that you are looking for a native speaker who can translate the subtitles on (the) eight short videos into chinese. I think I must keep it in the first sentence. The second sentence sounds fine to me with or without "the" but I'm not a native speaker so I need your opinions on this.

Because you are talking about eight specific videos you need 'the'. If you were hiring someone to translate subtitles generally, you wouldn't need it.
